NetherRealm Studios has really nailed their narrative recipe since the release of Mortal Kombat 9. We have seen each subsequent installment build intriguing points, with Kronika controlling the sands of time being the main reason.

Something must have gone terribly wrong in the future if Shang Tsung of all people intervened before Kang’s actions had irreversible ramifications.
